What’s behind? – infrablind

What’s behind?

We're all infrablind, because human beings aren't capable of visioning infrared and uv light. Same applies for modern cameras. In fact, every camera is capable of capturing infrared and uv light, but they get trimmed to capture pictures, similar to the human eye. Therefore camera manufacturers add infrared and uv filters in front of the sensor. For usual consumers, this step makes total sense. But since infrared light changes the visible colour of the light reflecting from organic material such as plants, it becomes highly fascinating for art related photographers. Now, to add the feature of infrared and uv light vision, a reassemble of the camera or it's infrared/uv filter becomes necessary. By adding special screw filters onto the lenses, which limit the spectrum of the 'normal' light spectrum and exposes the infrared light spectrum, the effects in colour can be pushed further. This sums up the procedure behind the concept of the work within INFRABLIND.
